County and State Agencies The County Recorder's Office is located on the second floor, Rock Island Court House, 200 15th Street, Rock Island, IL 61201, 309-786-4451. The Recorder's office has custody of the following records:
All records are indexed by name. There is no charge for searches, but
there is a reproduction charge of 25 cents per page. Check should be drawn
payable to the Rock Island County Recorder. The Circuit Clerk's Office has Probate Division located on the
1st floor of the Rock Island Court House, 200 15th Street, Rock Island,
IL 61201, 309-786-4451, ext 318, with Small Claims in room 105. They have
will books dating back to 1860, indexed by the name of the deceased and
by date of death. There is a reproduction charge of $1.00 for the first page and $.50
for additional pages. Checks should be drawn payable to the office. The County Clerk's Office is located on the
first floor of the Rock Island County Office Building (also known as the
old Modern Woodmen Building), 1504 3rd Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61201, 309-786-4451.

The Rock Island County Coroners's Office, located in the south wing
on the ground floor of the County Office Building at 1504 3rd Avenue, Rock
Island, IL 61201, 309-786-4451, maintains ledger records going back to
1890. Those ledgers from 1890 to 1990 are stored in the attic, but can
be searched by the staff. Records for 1990 and later are maintained in
the office. There is no fee for searches and abstracting by the staff,
but persons seeking information should make inquiries by surname, month
and year. (there are death certificate records in the County Clerk's Office
also.) Libraries Send your request to the attention of Katy Powers. Enclose a check to
cover the amount of the research and copies along with a stamped self-addressed
envelope. They are very good at doing the research and getting information

The Royal Descents of 500 Immigrants to the American Colonies or the United States by Gary Boyd Roberts Copyright 1993. Gary Boyd Roberts is at the New England Historical Genealogy Society, Boston, MA. Description: Index of surnames with a reference to Page of Royalty -- mostly English and French and a few others. Example: when I check index for my Elizabeth Bulkely in Boston 1634 it takes me to several pages, such as Edward 1, Henry 1, 11, and 111. You have to be back to New England to have this book work for you. 2. The Magna Carta Sureties -Weiss 3. The Complete Book of Immigrants in Bondage -1614 to 1775 by Peter Wilson Coldham - Copyright 1998 Surrey, England. Description: Lists of people convicted of crimes in England and transported to US. Example of such is: Bolster, Isaac. Rebel T 1685. (T stands for Transport or i.e. deported) There are codes on all entries and some lists the ship they came on. Isaac Bolster is my convict who fought in the Monmouth Rebellion against restoring the Catholic Church to England. Most were drawn and quartered but the young ones were transported and he doesn't show up in US until 1715 in Boston. However, most of the entries are later than this and sometimes gives crime. Such as "Bult, Robert R. s (stole) cloth from rack March 1750) SO. (SO is code for shire where person was convicted) 4. Planters of the Commonwealth 1620-1640 by Charles Edward Banks - Originally pub. 1930 with reprints 1961, 1972, 1975, 1979, 1984, 1991, 1997 Description: Ship Lists to America. Example: REBECCA, John Hodges, Master. She sailed from London in April and arrived at Boston June 8 with the following passengers: then list -- some are long and some are short and of course, most are not complete. 5. Dorsett Pilgrims - Thistlewaite - The Founders of Windsor, CN 6. Mayflower Families - HOPKINS, EATON, MOORE, CHILTON, ROGERS 7. Many books on Belgium but written in Belgium.
